The American International Health Alliance (AIHA) is an international nonprofit whose vision is a world with access to quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere. Our mission is to strengthen health systems and health workforce capacity worldwide through locally-driven, peer-to-peer institutional partnerships.
AIHA does this by providing technical assistance that helps low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) build the health system and human resource capacity needed to create a strong foundation for delivering high-quality, inclusive health services that underpin global health security.
“AIHA recognizes that global health security is impeded by weak, inefficient, and inadequate health system capacity – particularly in LMICs and fragile states around the globe. Through our twinning partnerships and other development interventions, AIHA works to build more resilient and responsive health systems, along with a fit-for-purpose health workforce that is better able to meet national and regional public health priorities,”says AIHA President & CEO David Greeley. “This includes containing future disease outbreaks, strengthening health service delivery to increase access and use by people at all levels, and enhancing national and global stability and security through improved health outcomes.”
AIHA’s comprehensive, holistic, and multi-pillar approach to health system strengthening and health workforce development has enabled us to achieve sustainable outcomes through more than 175 partnerships in sub-Saharan Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. AIHA has more than 25 years of experience working with host country governments, donors, and other key national and international stakeholders to address critical public health issues such as HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, maternal and child health, primary healthcare, emergency medicine, and a broad range of health professions education, including facilities management and the development of evidence-based guidelines and protocols.
